Entrance Exam Preparation
We understand that children (and parents!) can find preparing for entrance exams stressful. We provide a welcoming and safe learning environment, where our tutors work hard to ensure that our lessons are motivating, engaging and fun – and children are fully prepared for their exam.
One of the key aspects of preparing for entrance exams is starting early enough, so students have enough time to ensure they are working at the required level for the exam they will be sitting. All of the local private schools have slightly different formats to their entrance exams and so knowing the requirements of the individual school your son/daughter is sitting the exam for is very important. We can then work on all the areas that are relevant to them and have lots of practice papers we can use with children to build their confidence and skills as the exams get closer.
If you’ve got any questions about entrance exam tutoring please do give us a call for a no obligation chat.

Is your child…
Worried about their entrance exam?
Finding the extra maths or English tricky?
Struggling with verbal or non-verbal reasoning?
Why parents choose St Ives Tutoring Centre
Every child learns differently, which is why we never take a one-size-fits-all approach to learning. Our experienced primary tutors take the time to understand each child’s individual strengths, identify where extra support is needed and create a personalised learning journey that helps them grow in confidence, strengthen their understanding and enjoy learning again.
Experienced Teachers
Our entrance exam tutors are experienced, fully qualified primary school teachers with an in-depth understanding of the National Curriculum. We have more than 20 years experience preparing students for entrance exams to Kimbolton and also for a number of different private schools in Cambridge.
Personalised 1-2-1 Learning
Whether your child needs to work on their Maths or English or both, every lesson is tailored to their individual needs. By working at the right pace, we help children develop stronger skills and greater confidence as they prepare for their entrance exam.
Supportive Learning Environment
Our friendly and encouraging environment allows children to ask questions, make mistakes and develop without the pressures they can sometimes experience in a busy classroom. By building positive relationships with every student, we create a place where learning feels enjoyable, rewarding and achievable.
Strong Foundations for Future Success
Many learning difficulties stem from small gaps in understanding that have developed over time. Rather than simply moving on to the next topic, we identify those gaps, strengthen the core building blocks and ensure children have the confidence and knowledge they need before tackling more challenging work. It’s an approach that helps students make lasting progress, not just short-term improvements.
