Primary & SATs Tutoring

Experienced teachers

Our team of dedicated and experienced primary school teachers provide specialist tutoring to children throughout their primary school years. With KS1 and KS2 specialist teachers we offer support for children from year 2 who may be struggling with the basics of maths, reading and writing right through to children in year 6 working on SATs and secondary school preparation.

Working with children across the academic spectrum

With the high expectations of the primary curriculum, it can be challenging for children to keep up and difficult for parents and children to understand exactly how they’re getting on and what they need to do to meet the standard each year. Our primary tutors are all very experienced, fully qualified teachers who can quickly pick up on any areas that children find difficult, even if sometimes it means going back a year or two to fill in some gaps. If the building blocks, or basics of a topic are missing, they need filling in if children are going to move on to harder topics successfully. It’s difficult sometimes for schools to do this with the pressures of the curriculum, so it can make a big difference to students if we can take a step back sometimes to ensure they understand the basics of a topic before moving on.

We also work with primary students who are doing very well already but who want to ensure they keep up their excellent progress and are aiming to achieve greater depth and be best placed to move on to secondary school and GCSEs.

So do feel free to give us a call if your child is at primary school and you’re in any way concerned about their confidence, progress or achievement and would like to discuss how we can help them move on.

How we can help your child

Every child learns differently. That’s why we tailor our tuition to each student’s individual needs, helping them strengthen their understanding, grow in confidence and enjoy learning again.

Fill Learning Gaps

Every child learns at their own pace, and it’s easy for small gaps in understanding to grow over time. We identify where extra support is needed, strengthen those foundations, and help children move forward with greater confidence.

Build Confidence

Children learn best when they believe in their own abilities. Through encouragement, personalised support and achievable goals, we help every student develop the confidence to tackle new challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Prepare For SATs

Our SATs preparation is designed to reduce pressure, build confidence and ensure children feel fully prepared for the challenges ahead. We focus on both subject knowledge and exam techniques, helping every child approach their assessments with confidence.

Why parents choose St Ives Tutoring Centre

Every child learns differently, which is why we never take a one-size-fits-all approach to learning. Our experienced primary tutors take the time to understand each child’s individual strengths, identify where extra support is needed and create a personalised learning journey that helps them grow in confidence, strengthen their understanding and enjoy learning again.

Experienced Primary Teachers

Our tutors are experienced, fully qualified primary school teachers with an in-depth understanding of the National Curriculum. From Year 2 through to Year 6, they know how to recognise where children need support, challenge those who are ready to progress further, and adapt every lesson to suit the individual student.

Personalised 1-2-1 Learning

Whether your child is finding Maths or English difficult, preparing for SATs, or simply wants to build on their existing strengths, every lesson is tailored to their individual needs. By working at the right pace for each child, we help children develop stronger skills, greater confidence and a genuine enjoyment of learning.

Supportive Learning Environment

Our friendly, positive and relaxed environment allows children to ask questions, make mistakes and develop without the pressures they can sometimes experience in a busy classroom. By building positive relationships with every student, we create a place where learning feels enjoyable, rewarding and achievable.

Strong Foundations for Future Success

Many learning difficulties stem from small gaps in understanding that have developed over time. Rather than simply moving on to the next topic, we identify those gaps, strengthen the core building blocks and ensure children have the confidence and knowledge they need before tackling more challenging work. It’s an approach that helps students make lasting progress, not just short-term improvements.
